Soon after Lan graduate college, she found a job that could provide her enough money to have a better life compare to her life in China. She have been working in a company and the company have provided her green card due to her hard work. Now, she have been become an American citizen and she have been living in America for 24 years and she is married and have kids.

Lan would often think about her childhood, "When I was little, during Chinese new year, our parents would gave us traditional Chinese paper lanterns, and all the kids would gather together at the street to watch fireworks." But Lan also shared that she likes her life now and would not want to live in China, instead, she would like to have her parents to live in America.
